Office hours are from 8:30 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. Monday - Friday. Appointments are scheduled from 9:00 to 4:30 Monday - Thursday and 9:00 to 12:30 Friday.
Office visits are by appointment only and are to be scheduled in advance with the receptionist. Urgent problems will be handled on a walk-in basis if an appointment is not available when you call.
Cancellations: To allow us to provide maximum care at minimum cost, you are strongly urged to notify the office at least 24 hours in advance if you find you will not be unable to keep an appointment. Consistently broken appointments will lead to a charge being made for the time scheduled.
For lab results please call our office at 713-797-9922.
In case of emergency, call the office at 713-797-9922 and tell us the nature of the problem. You will then be advised as to the proper course of action. When the office is closed, the answering service will take your call and notify Dr. Orzeck of your situation. He will then contact you directly. A physician is available 24 hours a day; however, on weekends and holidays Dr. Orzeck may not be on call. In this event, the answering service will notify the covering physician.

An internist is a specialist in the care of adult, non-surgical medical problems. In general, an internist is a diagnostician, consultant, personal physician, and teacher.
Due to Dr. Orzeck's extensive experience in the management of diabetes mellitus, this office is able to provide a full range of care and service for the diabetic patient; including specialized care of the pregnant diabetic and innovative developments, such as use of the insulin infusion pump and the Medi-jector for needle-less injections.
If you were referred to Dr.Orzeck, the information obtained, including laboratory studies and treatment recommendations, will be promptly communicated to the referring physician.
Fees will vary according to the time required for the consultation, therefore initial visits will be more due to the extra information which must be handled at the time. Any laboratory studies will add to the cost of a visit and are also to be paid at the time of the visit.

If you have missed an appointment, a small amount of your medicine may be refilled to allow you to schedule a return appointment and still remain under treatment.

Eric A. Orzeck, MD, FACE, CDE, is a Clinical Associate Professor, Section of Endocrinology, in the Department of Internal Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas. He is also a member of the clinical faculty of the University of Texas Medical School, Houston, TX.
He earned his medical degree from the University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville, VA., and completed his post-graduate training at the University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City, IA.
Dr. Orzeck completed his first Endocrine Fellowship at the University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville, VA. He completed his second Fellowship at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Hopsital and Tumor Institute, Houston, TX.
Dr. Orzeck is a Certified Diabetes Educator, and he has been elected to the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators where he currently serves as Treasurer. He has been published over 100 times on the subject of Diabetes and currently serves on the editorial boards of Practical Diabetology and Diabetes Self-Management.
The Professional Societies and Associations that Dr. Orzeck is a member of include the Houston Society of Clinical Endocrinology, where he served as President, the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology, and the Endocrine Society. Dr. Orzeck has also served as President of both the Southeast Texas Chapter of the American Association of Diabetes Educators and the Houston Chapter of the American Diabetes Association.
